As part of Steel Structures and Metal Building’s Magazine’s anniversary issues, “Nerve of Steel’ article curated projects by eminent personalities from India’s Architectural fraternity and Our project ‘The Sands’ was featured front and center.

The 6-acre project designed along the East Coast road offers a comfortable and isolated private experience for resort lovers that overlooks the sand and the waves. The 10 symmetrical ‘Pods’ comprise of a shell structure that takes its inspiration from the rise and fall of ocean waves, which was enhanced by the plywood formwork and shuttering. Each of the pods is reinforced with 17.5 tons of steel and the banquet hall makes use of 78 tons of steel. The banquet hall roof was designed to have a double height volume of over 9m with a span of over 24 meters that was supported with the help of Post-Tension (PT) beams. Thus, steel is the backbone of the architectural form as well as the construction process of this extraordinary seaside resort. Click on the link to read more…
