In a tropical climate like Chennai, light often comes with the penalty of heat. We utilized daylight simulation to ensure that 91% of the regularly occupied spaces receive illuminances greater than 210 lux. By using deep window reveals and self-shading floor plates that scale outwards like an “umbrella,” we allow light to penetrate the interiors while controlling solar glare and radiation.
5. PERFORMANCE-DRIVEN MATERIALITY
True luxury is about longevity. We optimized the building envelope using AAC blocks and double glazing, reducing the Window-to-Wall Ratio (WWR) to 24%. From natural stone cladding to low-VOC finishes, every material was chosen for its thermal comfort and impact on Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ). Even the lush living walls serve a dual purpose: they provide shade to the stairways while cooling the inward breezes.
