A refined, minimal material palette of neutral grey, warm wengé veneer, complemented with monochromatic bold black leather surfaces, and smooth white walls served as the theme of this apartment renovation. This modern chic SoHo styled ambience was brought to life by clearing the east common courtyard facing wall which permitted sunlight and natural ventilation into the home. The living, extended dining and home theatre were kept translucent to maintain the visual lightness, permitting circulation.
The sterility of the classic black and white combination is broken by bursts of stimulating red accents to draw attention to the composure of the carbon black coated aluminum Rayner’s double-glazed windows and the bespoke artwork. The clean well-defined lines of the kitchen’s tobacco clad shutters and London grey engineering marble are instantly elevated with the ample natural light that filters the space reminiscent of a Euro-style cucina in keeping with the owner’s lifestyle. To add geometric texture & abstract dimension, patterned wallpapers with metallic overtones were applied to radiate the illusion of depth.
Thoughtful design decisions such as opening east wall and using energy and acoustic effective windows played a prominent role in enhancing the interiors of the apartment. Ample sunlight, ventilation and views to the outside appealed to the long-term habitability of the apartment due to the strategic punctures and enhanced the interconnectivity with Nature. Careful selection of finishes and materials such as Recycled Wallpaper & Low VOC water-based paints resulted in an interior that’s modern and stylish as well as eco-friendly.
